Al Gore will discuss the climate crisis and the 2008 Presidential campaign on CBS's "60 Minutes" this Sunday, March 30th at 7 pm ET/PT.

All environmental club members are encouraged to watch and bring back some key points to discuss at the next EC Meeting.

We will be having a discussion in the next meeting about a recent energy bill signed into law.

"The energy bill signed into law by Pres. George W. Bush may be a significant victory for environmentalists--mandating that auto manufacturers increase average mileage of cars, SUVs, and light trucks to 35 mpg by 2020"

The topics will be:

A) Do you think this is competitive enough considering the higher, more immediate demands of other countries such as those in Europe and Japan?

B) Do you think this is an effective approach due to the higher fatality risk of smaller, less impact absorbent cars?

These are a few things to think about.

At our next meeting, we will be discussing a bill the was recently passed into law.

There are two points to consider:

A) Is this bill effective considering the higher and more immediate standards set in European countries and Japan?

B) Is it wise to do this at the cost of vehicle safety? (Smaller cars with less impact absorbtion will cause the more fuel efficent cars to be much more fatal in an accident.)
